So what happens to the bricks in the smokestack when tons and tons of copper are refined? Copper Firebrick! The mines of Michigan produced so much copper that, over time, the bricks at the smelters became saturated with copper themselves.
During the refining process of copper, the copper is heated at high temperatures in a furnace or a smelter, and the resulting gases are released through a chimney or smokestack. The bricks used to construct the smokestacks are usually made of fire clay or refractory material, which is resistant to high temperatures and corrosion.
Over time, as the copper is refined and released through the smokestack, tiny particles of copper can settle on the bricks, forming a thin layer. This process is known as copper plating or copper saturation. While the amount of copper that collects on the bricks may be small, over time, it can build up and change the composition of the bricks.

You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
